As the culminating event of its twentieth season, Pulse Theatre Ensemble, under the direction of Alexa Kelly, will present a Free Shakespeare production of ‘Macbeth. The production updates the classic by transferring Shakespeare’s tragedy from the “fog and filthy air” of Scotland to the murky realms of Afghanistan, where “nothing is but what is not.” The title character, an overambitious Marine officer (suffering from PTSD), is brought down by guilt and paranoia. Lady Macbeth sings blues and inspires herself with R&B music. Banquo throws football with his son, Fleance. The witches are Afghani widows, possibly Taliban or Al Quaeda partisans, who seek revenge for their losses. The tension mounts until Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are brought down by their own greed, guilt and fear.

Actor Producer Serina Sanusi, starring in “Line” at The 13th Street Repertory Theatre, has broken the color barrier after 36 years by producing the first ever “all black cast” of the play. Sanusi is a native of Ghana, West Africa, and says “Line has been running longer than I’ve been running/living, but I’ve been black far longer than the play. This casting adds a dimension to a text that is ripe for new interpretation.” The cast features: Serina Sanusi, Hank Dennis, Errol Greaves, Anthony Michael Stokes and Anthony Walters. “Line”, written by Israel Horovitz, runs every Friday and Saturday night at 9:30pm and tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors & students w/ID.

Alysia hails from Los Angeles. Born of parents who met at an acting class, it was no wonder that she would have the gift. Some of those gifts are acting, singing, writing (poetry and screenwriting), and stand up comedy. She’s had a career in Film and TV including credits like: Desperate House Wives, a reoccurring role on Everybody Hates Chris, Scrubs, NYPD Blue, and The Shield, just to name a few. Three and half years ago, she got a deep passion for all things more true and cultural. That’s what brought her to NY and she has been on her grind ever since. Katie Northlich is a four time New York Manhattan Monologue Slam Champion, and she is the current reigning Three-Time National Manhattan Monologue Slam Champion. Her solo show, *Character Forum: A Thesis, was in New York Magazine as a pick of the week; it was selected for the Estrogenius Festival, the Fashion Playfest festival, and was chosen as a debut piece for the solo-performance based Stage Left Studio theatre, resulting in an extended, sold out run. She toured Europe with a Commedia D’elle Arte troupe, and she is a private solo instructor and a commissioned monologue writer. Katie emphasizes the important fusion of physical, vulnerable, and storytelling in the arc of her characters. She is currently developing a new genre of improvisational solo and monologue performance. NEW YORK: Twelfth Night, Arturo’s Window, And Then Like Ophelia, The Odd Couple, Man With Bags, Two Rooms. The Manhattan Monologue Slam “Year End Championship” took place on December 18th, at Bennett Media Studio and featured an exciting mix of panelists from HBO to Broadway. They include: Jodi Angstreich, Casting Assistant for HBO’s “Bored to Death”; Pat Addiss, Broadway Producer “Passing Strange”, “The 39 Steps”, “Spring Awakening”; Ed Bennett, former President Viacom & CEO VH1.

Ed Bennett is former president and CEO of Viacom and VH1, MTV network’s 24-hour music and lifestyle network. Ed has worked with major artists such as Michael Jackson and Madonna. Ed now serves on the Board of The Songwriters Guild of America Foundation and Chairman of the Board at American Independence Corp. Ed is also the president at Bennett Media Studio.

Jodi Angstreich casting most recently working at Laura Rosenthal Casting on the Feature Film “The Sisterhood of Night.” Jodi is also the Casting Associate for the HBO hit “Bored To Death.” Prior to going freelance Jodi worked in the Casting Department at CBS where she worked on over 50 pilots, both comedies and dramas, for CBS and The CW.

Pat Addiss has been a producer on many Tony award-winning plays & musicals, including: Spring Awakening (Best Musical, 2007), The 39 Steps (Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design, 2008),

*Episode 4: Harrison vs. Burkhardt:* In 1994, paranoid schizophrenic William Burkhart embarked on a spate of burglaries in the rural community of Park County, Colorado. After three months of searching, police finally surround Burkhart in a cabin, but before back up could arrive, the fugitive bursts out and shoots Deputy John Hoeler in the chest with modified shotgun ammunition. Lead by Sheriff Bob Harrison (Glenn Beatty), Colorado law enforcement assembled a 250 man task force to track down Burkhart. However, during the tense and dangerous two week hunt, Burkhart evades capture and the manhunt is dramatically scaled back. *It is left for Harrison to catch his man alone.* The dramatic crescendo is one of the most intense moments of the series.

Glenn Beatty got his MFA from Southern Methodist University, as did actors Kathy Bates, Powers Booth and Playwright Jack Hefner. Glenn is a playwright, poet, writer & video producer, having worked with such celebrities as Eli Wallach, Patrick Stewart & the Reverend Jessie Jackson. He just returned from India and will journey to Tanzania in May to direct a corporate film documenting electricity coming to remote areas for the first time. As an actor, he has appeared in over 40 plays and has worked in Repertory Theaters from Maine to California.
